RCCO Director of Public Relations Jennifer Milikien, quoted in critically-acclaimed book

When author Deltina Hay began working on her newest book, The Social Media Survival Guide: Strategies, Tactics, and Tools for Succeeding in the Social Web, she reached out to her experienced circle within the social media community for thoughts, ideas and suggestions for the book. When the book was released earlier this year, RCCO Director of Public Relations Jennifer Milikien, was delighted to discover Hay had used one of her quotes in the book. On page 37 of Chapter 1, called Creating Your Social Media Strategy, Hay gives advice to her readers who are just starting out in social media: "Each organization is different and must take into account its individual audience(s) and products. Additionally, the organization must factor in the resources they are able to commit to each tool. Having a bevy of social media profiles doesn't do an organization any good if they don't have the staff on hand to monitor and maintain them. Try to stay away from "shiny object" sundrome and stick with the basics if you're a small shop. There are a lot of options out there, but having a presence on all of them isn't going to improve your results if they're stale."

The book has already experienced much critical acclaim, including "A quick, practical, hands-on introduction to the nuts and bolts of using social media to grow your brand, improve sales and increase profits." and "Outlines how businesses can efficiently use social networking sites by taking the time to plan and prepare a strategy."

Milikien is very involved in the San Antonio social media community, having co-founded Social Media Breakfast of San Antonio, a monthly meeting of marketers, PR pros, students, entrepreneurs and social media enthusiasts who want to learn more about social media through panel discussions, presentations, case studies, debates and breakout sessions.
